Bumper English Summer for the Proteas in 2012

The ECB today announced the Major Match schedule for next summer which will see England host tours by West Indies, Australia and South Africa and Cardiff’s SWALEC stadium stage the Friends Life t20 Finals day for the first time.

West Indies will kick off next summer’s international programme with a three-match Test Series against England to be staged at Lord’s, Trent Bridge and Edgbaston followed by a three-match NatWest Series and a NatWest International T20.

Australia,  currently the world’s number one ranked ODI side, are then scheduled to take on their hosts in a five-match NatWest Series before the five day game resumes with Andrew Strauss’s side taking on South Africa in Test Matches at The Kia Oval, Headingley and Lord’s.

England will round off their summer with a One Day International against Scotland in August followed by a five-match NatWest Series and three NatWest International T20 matches against South Africa.

ECB Chief Executive David Collier said: “With England looking to maintain its position as the number one side in the ICC’s World Test rankings and also preparing to defend the World T20 title in Sri Lanka next autumn, interest in next summer’s international programme will be intense.

“A record number of people attended this season’s international fixtures and with an exciting summer in prospect again in 2012, we would urge spectators to buy tickets early in order to avoid disappointment.”
