CSA Members' Forum Calls Special General Meeting

THE Members’ Forum of Cricket South Africa (CSA) held a special meeting in Johannesburg on Thursday, September 8, 2011.

The Members’ Forum is the supreme authority of CSA and consists of the 11 presidents of the affiliates of CSA who are the only people who have voting rights on this body.

At the conclusion of their meeting they wrote to the CEO of CSA as follows:

Re: Special General Meeting

The undersigned affiliates duly represented unanimously request the CEO to call a Special General Meeting within the prescribed period, as stated in the Articles of Association of Cricket South Africa, with the following agenda item:

1)      To propose a “Motion of No Confidence” in the President of Cricket South Africa to continue in his portfolio. The following reasons are adduced in regard to this “Motion of No Confidence”:-

a)      Dr. Nyoka has brought the organisation into disrepute by disregarding the majority decisions of the Board

b)      As a result of his actions in the past year he has brought serious reputational damage to CSA

c)       He has treated the Board in a contemptuous manner and has continued with his vilification of the Board and its employees in the Media. In this regard the national team has indicated that the President is but a “poor example” in regard to the contraventions of the Media Protocol of CSA

d)      He has transgressed the Companies’ Act by receiving unauthorised emoluments/loans in 2010  without the express consent of the Board of CSA

2)      Should agenda item 1 above be carried, “that the President of Cricket South Africa step down from his post with immediate effect”

The above is proposed and seconded by the undersigned affiliates whose representatives have duly signed the request.
