There are a large number of academies operating in India to bring out new talents to represent India in the international arena. The Indian tennis academies have been playing an important role in the well being of Indian Tennis.

Most of the Indian Tennis academies are being run and managed by the former Indian Tennis players, who want to pass over their vast experience to the young and budding Tennis players. The Tennis academies have by and large proved to be instrumental in shaping the careers of many such young and talented players in India, so far. They have also been instrumental in making the players into big stars of tomorrow. The legendary Indian Tennis players like Rohit Rajpal and Leander Paes honed their Tennis skills at the Britannia Amritraj Tennis Academy. Apart from them, many leading players, who have been at the peak of their careers and have contributed immensely to this game, have planned to revive the interest in the game, in an effort to reclaim the lost glory of India.

The trend of former great players establishing Indian Tennis academies was started by one of the best Indian Tennis players, Vijay Amritraj. He started a full fledged Tennis academy in India for the first time. The then Chairman of Britannia, Mr. Rajan Pillay gave a lot of support to Vijay Amritraj and they together founded the Britannia Amritraj Tennis Academy in Chennai. After Amritraj, the other great Indian Tennis players like Jaidip Mukherjee, Mahesh Bhupathi, the famous father-son duo of Ramanathan and Ramesh Krishnan, etc have also established their own Tennis academies. In the recent years, the latest sensation of Indian Tennis, Sania Mirza has also approached the State Government of Andhra Pradesh for land to start her Tennis academy.

Among the numerous Indian Tennis academies, there are a few that have earned recognition all over the country. These academies have become successful in providing a number of talented Tennis players, who have represented India in several international events. Some of these Indian Tennis academies include the Krishnan Tennis Centre, the Ace Tennis Academy, the Tennis Village, the Sinette Tennis Academy, the Bhupathi Tennis Academy, the Jaidip Mukherjee Tennis Academy, etc. The academies have blossomed in the country for training, educating and guiding the budding youngsters to realize their potential. The Indian Tennis academies are actually working to revive interest in the game in India.

The Tennis Village (TTV) is one of the most notable Indian Tennis academies. It was established in September 1995, in Bangaluru with the only objective of teaching the game and shaping young talent into mature champions. The famous Indian Tennis player, CGK Bhupathi, ranked Junior No. 1 in the country, in his time, took his passion for the game a step further and funded The Tennis Village. He established the academy in order to mould his son, Mahesh Bhupathi, into the champion he is today. CGK Bhupathi was also the founder of the first of the Indian Tennis academies named the Tennis Clinic, in Chennai.

The Tennis Clinic was established in the 1970s; however, it did not rise to its own expectations. Then, CGK Bhupathi set up The Tennis Village in Bengaluru, with the patronage of his real estate magnate and sports aficionado, Dayanand Pai. One of the leading sportswear brands in the world, Nike was also an associated partner during the inception of this academy. The Sinette Tennis Academy (STA) is considered as another most notable one among the Indian Tennis academies. The academy is situated in Hyderabad and has already earned great reputation among the Indian Tennis enthusiasts. The main reason behind the academy`s popularity is that it has produced the latest sensation of Indian Tennis, Sania Mirza.

Baseline Tennis Academy, located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is reputed as one of the top Tennis Coaching Academy for children, adults and Advanced Tournament Players as well.
