A New Schedule and Purple Dinamites for This Week’s UCL

Platini and His Dates.

Four weeks of Champions League's Last 16 will give us room to appreciate each of the remaining teams. With eight home and away pairs being spread over the calendar to limit us with two games a night, UEFA ensures our fever is controlled under a good dose of football.

This new calendar promotes Stuttgart, Olympiacos and Bordeaux as tasty offerings to be paired with Barcelona. Usually, cramped up schedule would have us skip through CSKA and Sevilla in order to get straight to Inter and Chelsea, thus providing an anti-climax without any sort of engaging foreplay once we reach the final whistle. Nice one, Chef Michel. You keep us biting on something in-between meal-course.

Obviously, if the quality of football turns out to be bad, then all of this goes straight to the bin. But at least we have a chance to witness Euroconquest by Krasic and Luis Fabiano, Gourcouff and Hleb or Pogrebnyak; but ofcourse, it is so only if they manage. Usually, we merely skip through when they do manage (at times exploiting revolutionary approaches), irresistably pulled by the immediate charisma of traditional heavyweights.
