Down on their luck, and without a win in eight games, the Colorado Rapids can't have expected much from their clash against Salvadorans, Isidro Metapán, in the CONCACAF Champions League. The game, which took place last night, in El Salvador, saw the Rapids walk away with a 3-1 victory over their South American opponents, their first positive result since August 20 2011.
Omar Cummings, striker at the Rapids, and scorer of the side's third goal at the Estadio Suarez, yesterday, said that his club had enjoyed a "great game". The Jamaican noted that his team mates will "fight for each other" in important fixtures. However, unless Colorado can begin to view their league matches as big games, the side faces a bleak future in the Western Conference. People looking for soccer betting tips will know this.
Discounting CONCACAF matches, Colorado has claimed just two points from five Major League Soccer (MLS) fixtures; two ties, three losses. Remarkably, their current run of bad form came on the back of a three match winning streak in the league, in July and August. The side clearly has the potential to win MLS games, but fate has not favoured the Rapids, in recent weeks. Those looking to bet on soccer games should bear this in mind.
Colorado will no doubt be hoping that last night's win will mark a change in fortunes for the mid-westerners. However, the Rapids' confidence will face a serious test on Saturday, when Colorado travel to Texas, to take on F.C. Dallas, who are currently fourth in the Western Conference. The Hoops have not won a game in three, which could make them 'easy pickings' for a resurgent Colorado.
Speaking about the Rapids' victory in El Salvador, Steve Guppy, assistant coach at the Commerce City outfit, said, "what the players have done is truly remarkable. It feels so special to be involved in it. I am so proud of the players."
