Higuain's hat trick helps Real Madrid crush Espanyol

An early strike from Adriano was enough to give Barcelona a 1-0 win at bottom club Sporting Gijon in the Spanish Primera Liga.

The Brazilian found the net after 12 minutes. Barcelona have 14 points and lead Levante on goal difference.

Real Madrid follow in third place, just one point behind after a four nil demolition of Espanyol.

Argentinean Gonzalo Higuain, who started in place of an injured Karim Benzema, scored a hat trick for Real. Substitute Jose Callejon was also on target.
