Tevez heads home

Tevez was grilled by City officials on Monday over the incident in last Tuesday's Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich when it was claimed by boss Roberto Mancini that he refused to come on as a substitute in the second half of the game.

City have been conducting a thorough investigation into the affair and have also interviewed Mancini and several other City players as they mull over the best course of action.

The former Manchester United forward claims he never refused to play in the Allianz Arena and described the situation as a "misunderstanding", but Mancini was adamant following the game and insisted the Argentinian was "finished" at City.

It is thought the Premier League club want to draw a line under the whole row as soon as possible and gave Tevez the go-ahead to return to his home country while they decide his fate.

Tevez was suspended for two weeks by the club last week following the incident and all options remain open to City, including the termination of his contract if the player is found guilty of gross misconduct.
