Revs Lose to Sounders, but Fagundez Shines

Seattle's Fredy Montero has knocked the New England Revolution out of the running for the post-season play-offs. Montero scored twice in the Sounders' clash with the Massachusetts outfit, on Saturday, as the Revolution slumped to their third loss in a row, cementing their position at the foot of the Eastern Conference.

The story could have been very different, had New England held on to the lead that a Diego Fagundez header brought them in the 35th minute. However, it would have taken some effort to fell the Sounders, who have won four of their last five games, and currently stand in second place in the league, behind Los Angeles Galaxy. Those looking for soccer betting tips should remember this.

Montero made his presence known just one minute after Seattle kicked-off, following Fagundez's goal. He found the net once again in the 47th minute, to claim his 11th goal in 28 games. The Columbian striker is now just three goals behind D.C. United's Dwayne de Rosario, the top scorer in this year's Major League Soccer (MLS) campaign. People who bet on soccer games will have to bear this in mind.

The Revolution were a little unfortunate. Argentine striker, Milton Caraglio, scored early in the match, but a "suspect decision" from the linesman, to quote the MLS website, saw the effort scrubbed from the score sheet. Fagundez, 16, kicked wide, while Ryan Guy's strike ended
up in the arms of the Sounders' goalie, Kasey Keller.

If nothing else, the Revs' can be pleased with the performance of Fagundez, who made his first start for New England during yesterday's match. "You can see his quality", said Revolution midfielder, Chirs Tierney. "He plays the game the right way. He's so active, and he has great feet and great vision."
